Here is the official statement from the Xbox web page: http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.
For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.
Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.
You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.
So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:
•An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
•Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do to ...

After press releases on both the Xbox one and PS4, there is a lot of misinformation out there, and a lot of hidden details that were not clarified. If you’re a fan of either, I am sure nobody’s opinion has been changed. There are outlying issues with each system, primarily centered on how used games will be handled. For the people like myself who buy games and are always connected, this is a moot point, but for the younger generation who cannot afford to purchase the games they want, Microsoft’s current game policy can cause a problem. (keep in mind this policy can be revised as easily as I am writing this report.) ...

Microsoft says it conducted 20 research studies globally with more than 500 participants designed to validate proposed improvements. It settled on the final design, which is claimed to introduce over 40 technology innovations, after creating 200 prototypes. You'll have heard about some of the features listed below in recent weeks, but others are new to us. These include a low power state the controller enters after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life. Unlike the Xbox 360 pad, Xbox One's remains ready for use without having to be re-synched with the console. We came away impressed after going hands-on with Xbox One's controller last month. ...

After many weeks of design and testing we have finally finished the design for the very secret LTU2 hardware You may have noticed that the 1175 PCB were very rare and very expensive if you managed to get one due to the chipset being super rare and of course super expensive (we still say if you find anywhere that has stock of the LTU PCB's, grab them as they are super rare and not possible to make any more) ...

No 'Red Ring Of Death'-style disasters for Xbox One, says Microsoft[smg id=2950] General Hardware Failure
When a failure of one or more hardware components occurs, Q1, Q3 & Q4 flash red. Unlike the one light error, there is no error code displayed on the connected display." This rather terse description in Microsoft's documentation was of little comfort to those who experienced what came to be known as the 'Red Ring Of Death' on the original Xbox 360. For many, it was pretty much game over for their consoles, which had to be professionally serviced and repaired, or simply replaced. ...
