HELP! Blown fuse maybe. I hope.fixed + rep
« on: April 12, 2011, 08:27:31 AM »
During testing for the pin out thread. I slipped and shorted the 12v to ground. Ps3 wont light up. I looked into the back side of the power supply and seen a fuse. It looks blown. But its soldered in. WTF.
This is the ps3 power supply. with fuse in question.

Sad thing was I already had the voltage I was just testing amps. I just slipped with the probe. GRRR.

check the fuse for continuity with your multimeter, if it does not conduct that is likely to be the problem.

well, if it's a fuse test it with your meter, if you get an OFL reading then it's blown and needs to be replaced. T8AH AC250V -- 8Amp 250V AC Though-Hole

Thanks guys definitely the fuse. Maybe this will help someone with a no light ps3. You can see the fuse from the outside w/o taking the ps3 apart.

So the swap from the small dell power supply worked great. Heres the pic of the fix. The fuse from the dell was glued in and was mounted the other way. (vertical) I broke off one side so I soldered In a new pin. So its not the cleanest job. But it works and thats what counts.

Is the fuse less than or equal to the original fuse's value? If so you're going to be OK.
