HI everyone here is what I can add I got all my parts from mouser.com execpt for the Amp...

638-192BHC-AN1P23T Blue Water Clear 0603 LEDs 0.68$ each. order at least 6, 10 is a nice number.

71-RN60D-F-191K 1/4watt 191Kohms 0.21$ I got 15 of them.

271-30K-RC 30Kohms 1% 0.90$ each I got 15 of them too.

All thats missing is the part number for the Amp IC (radio shack, 8 pin AMP IC). I'll get that number when I go to my office...

when i bridge the resistor for the powerpoint,does it cause too much voltage to go through my leds causing it to burst????becoz i already removed the resistor n does it mean i canot use the powerpoint from there anymore???

Edited . i add 20ohms resistor to limit the voltage to 3.2 volts.i duno the maximum voltage i can go for my led.

Those resistors at that power point are for the MS and WIFI LEDs. You soldering to the 5.x volt side of the resistor. If you have removed them then your supplying 5.X volts to those leds insted of 3.2

i got a problem wif my psp.my speaker got a buzzing sound and nothing else.i take out the mod i haf and juz a normal console but the sound is still there.earphones work fine.any1 know y??

does it matter if my resisters are 5%? i have both of the right resisters its just 5% you guys have 1%. maybe that will solve my lm386 not working problem?

edit: nvm my 30kohm is 5% and my 191kohm is 1%

hey lordnico. any luck on that lm386 to work on the headphone jack yet? i just got a transmitter for my car. im gunna have my psp docked and i wanna have some sound reactive action

yeah I have it working external.. Where the lm386 is getting input from the headphone jack and making the lights blink.. I just haven't wired it to the headphone part of the board.. I just finished a 360 mod tonight so I'm back in the swing of things again..

when its like that does it work with headphones on? i dont quite understand. i've been trying to work it but no luck.

emm dude ur connecting the positive straight to the negative,the positive goes on the dead point on d switch and the negative goes to the negative point on the switch,common sense boy lol

Could you draw a diagram??Because i still don't understand it. The dead pin is not even connected to the ground, does it means it's a open circuit??? Then why would my battery still drains when it is an open circuit even though my psp is off(not standby)(totally off).

wait wait.. you're fine. the anode and cathode on the switch is "bridged" so its making the dead negative. that dude probably didn't see it. its fine.

I have got a quick question.

1) I connected my supply voltage from the memory stick which is the 5++ V powerpoint to my LM386 amp pin number 6.

2) Then i connected my ground from the Lm386 amp and my led cathode(-) to the dead pin from the switch.

3) I connected my led anode(+) to pin 5 from the LM386 amp.

Is there anything i done wrong??
Because i can't seem to find where the ground from the LM386 amp goes to in this tutorial.

Lastly, i am leaving my psp overnight now and see if my battery still drains tomorrow.

Edited: My battery still drains. I will take out the mod and see how it goes for 4 hrs with the battery full charge.

idk if this is happening to you but the two photos that are near where you explained how the leds go in the trigers and where to drill are not working for me. btw im on a mac. idk if that affects it or not but ya....

i almost have everything but i still have a question or two. does the fact that when i search for the resistor that there is a couple differences like a 1/4 w versus a 1/8 w. and the 30k ohm resistors i have found dont look like the ones in the picture i still havent gone to the local radio shack but just was wondering if that was an issue or not

You should be fine with a 1/4 watt. Bad news though Radio Shack does not carry 30K or 191K. Your best bet is to order from mouser...

yeah i appreciate your help man i am very impatient but i just got the resistors out of my junk parts it took a little while but i was successful and i am just about to set up my work area ill let you now how it goes this is my cup of tea, haha the way i found this site is cause after purchasing my slim i started to comence the drinking of beer and while playing a game i paused it and set it down and spilled this tiny amount of beer on the d-pad wich in turn made the right button stick so i searched for a tut on taking it apart and this is were i found it.anyways i plan on doing a lot of stuff to it now

Hey, I'm new to this site...I have some things that I'm not compleatly clear of.

I Understand the building of the sound mod and the connecting of the resistors to the negative and positive contacts on the speakers. I also understand the connecting of the power source. And the soldering of the LED's

What I dont understand is:
1) You know how you connected the anode and cathode of the switch together right? Where does the wire from the dead (soldered to the switch) go?
2) Where does the anode and the cathode of each LED connect to?
3) Where does the ground wire(on the sound mod) go?

Because I'm planning on putting one LED in each of the L and R buttons and 2 in the back to light up the Jewel.

hey ppl i made a mistake while doing the mod and i got siome problems here will be glad if you help

after i thought i was done i started the psp turned the wifi switch but the leds werent shining.
i started checking everything again and again but no luck so i removed the mod , made the psp in 1 piece again and started it. it is going fine but then i realised that the WIFI and the MEMORY STICK LEDS on the psp ( u know em next to the analog stick) ARE NOT WORKING NOW !!!

i think i overheated the place where i need to solder the 5v wire

can you give me a tip how to fix it ?
is there another place where i can solder the 5v wire now since this one isnt working now i think.

or what the heck? 1/4 W? Are these good:

Hello,
Yesterday I made the soundmod for my psp slim.
It all works perfect but..
Why does it also react to the noise that's coming from the speaker?
When I change the volume level to 0, the leds are on (not full strength),
when I set the speakers to mute, the leds are off.
When you listen very closely you can hear some noise coming from the speakers.
Am I the only one with this problem? Or did I do something wrong?
My modding/soldering skills are sufficient for this relatively simple mod.
