LCD edge foam

I was wondering if the bit of foam surrounding the psps lcd screen really serves a purpose cause I was thinking of scraping it off. It's gathered a lot of fibers and stuff in it from taking the faceplate off so many times. Replacement screens don't have it as far as I know?

Makes sense, I was thinking maybe with it removed I could tighten up the face place a little bit. Wondering if the screen would up against the faceplate without though..

if you got rid of the foam the screen would be un stable

you need that foam it keeps the screen from being right against the faceplate and probably can get scratched easly
