Weird, that just means that the bottom screen ribbon cable is not inserted properly. Just open it up, check the ribbons on the bottom screen only, and reinsert all of them. They shouldn't  need any soldering if that's what the DS does when it turns on. A simple fix :D

Is there a chance I blew a fuse? No matter what I try, the bottom won't power on. I tried everything but it won't power -_-

If it was a fuse it wouldn't turn on and when you plug a charger the orange led lights for a sec and then it's off again.
If it's all because of the broken clip then try the tape method I've told you. w8 I'll get a pic.

ok the fact that the screen is not doing anything at all tells us that its one of two things

a) the screen is broken in some way

b) the ds signal that it sends to the screen is broken in some way

so check all the area around the connector and micro-processors for shorts, and if there are none, and everythings all good, you needs a new screen

He tested 2 screens.
The ds signal can't be broken.
I had the same problem with a
ds when I joined and a friend
who's more patient than me fix it.
Another possible problem could be
backlight. The ds shuts down if backlight
isn't functioning.Anyway I got the pics
with the tape method I use for broken clips.
I use it to make ribbon cables thicker so
the stay nice inside the connectors even without
the clip things.Be carefull when inserting taped
ribbon cables into a connector.

well...thats certainly creative...no doubt about it :D

and the signal can be broken...if your method works, it just means the signal was being broken with the FPC not connecting properly ;)

You get my drift!
Anyway the fat DS screen connectors are crappy and this problem is kinda common. It's because the FPC doesn't make good contact with the pins into the connector.Possibly my tape method can help the FPC and pins come together again and give life to that poor DS.

the problem with fpc connectors is how unstable they are, they are inteanded to be assembled by the machines and some people work and thats it, maybe the odd repair check, but thats it. They aren't designed to be constantly unplugged and plugged in

Hmm I'm right on the way you're doing this, wouldn't the tape make the ribbon too thick to fit in the clips?

not really. It still fits after applying the tape.I usually add more tape sometimes to fit a FPC into a connector with a broken clip.I love tape :)

Bah I meant if I'm on right on thinking the way that you do this. Anyway is it dbl-sided tape? Anyway it does look like a convienient solution, especially for those lame touch screen ribbons that are so small and insignificant looking. XD
