Hi, everyone. Long time no see as it has been months since i mod my last psp. I just bought a new psp and crystal clear housing for slim and i am going to do a full body led mod.

1st thing 1st

I will be using L0rdNiC0s tutorial for the Sound Reactive LED Mod for the Slim without the amp, means direct connection.

What is the voltage and current of 0603 leds, is it all the same?
I will be using 22 leds and i think the the voltage drop across LED is 3.6 v~ the current is 20 mA.
I will be using the same powerpoint from L0rdNiC0s tutorial except that i will be bridging the resistors for the wifi and the mem led.
So i assume my voltage would be 5 v~.

Now my questions is, how should i connect it in parallel circuit and how what resistor value should i use and the power rating of the resistor.

Any help or reply is greatly appreciated.

Yeah i know, but i read on some thead got a guy say he use 1 resistor for 1 pair of leds, so i need some advice on this. Eg. how many resistors for how many leds. Or 1 resistor is enough. 4 ohms 1 watt.

First decide if you will run a series or parallel circuit, then find the data sheet for the LEDs you plan to use (or the specs on the LEDs you plan to use if you have no data sheet available) and find out operating voltages and amperages, and then use an LED calculator to determine what amount of resistance you will need in the circuit, from there you can decide if you will only need one resistor or if you will need multiple resistors.

just realized that you said 22 LEDs, unless you use multiple power points I'm not sure that there will be enough voltage for that many LEDs, but don't let my conjecture stop you from trying, just be forewarned that you may run into power issues...

They will have to be run in parallel...  I don't mind explaining things over and over, but I really wish the tutorials, about all this stuff would be read in order to get a better understanding of things, especially since the tutorials are so well written...  (Of course I could be a bit biased about my own writing...  LOL)

In those tuts you will find some info you need to know to figure your problem out, some things won't be of much use to you, but learning them can't hurt.

Wow, thxs jrfhoutx and T3KN1K4L. I use the ledcalc.com and they say 3+ ohms 1 watt resistor. Does that mean i need to use that resistor at only one point or i use it on every led i got. Oh and about the power issue. Because last time when i use that powerpoint, my both led blow up, so i thought it might be enough for 22 leds.

If you place the resistor before you branch the parallel circuits off, you will only need one, but if you place the resistors in the parallel circuits then you will need one resistor for each one, both are fine, but the easier way of course is to do the single resistor way...

O i see i see. It would be much easier now. Do u know the voltage and current of the point at the wifi/mem led when the resistor there is bridged?

Hmm manage to do it somehow, 22 leds. 3.1v each led.

EDITED: My resistor is 4.7 ohms 1 watt. Its dam hot.
            I tried 4.7 ohms x 5 resistors. Not hot.

I dont like it to be hot, maybe melt my backplate(possible?) The purple led is so not bright, might change all to blue >.<

if you can dude, keep the purple led's, they look good and most people have blue led's (myself included).

Hmm yeah i using 20 blue leds for overall psp, 2 green leds for trigger, 18 purple leds for sound reactive ( direct connection). Now the only thing is to get my blue leds, dont have enough T_T. Will be buying tomorrow. And btw, the purple led brightness is the same in both sound reactive or on/off. But the blue led in on/off is brighter then in sound reactive thats y i choose blue as on/off ><

if its getting hot that means its not the correct wattage/voltage rating for the power supply, its too small for the power supply

its not only dangerous to you, but to the circuit if its getting hot, and the backplate

but seriously....that thing is gonna light up D: (or...IS lighting up)

My resistor used to get really hot but it was because the exposed wire was touching metal. So I taped up my metal touching points and put it back together and it worked. It suns warm now but not how it was doing, I could burnt myself on that thing it was so hot. Anyways, hope this helps, Thanx, DA

Resistors should get warm (the way they work is that excess current is converted into heat) but if it get's hot than you probably need a resistor with a higher wattage.
