UMD hole for jewels
« on: June 03, 2008, 01:09:13 PM »
I want to get a jewel and put it in my psp but I don't know how people get the hole in the UMD door. Does everyone have a Dremel? Does everyone make the hole like this guy?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIVIcWdEiAg

I'm also wondering how I could get custom jewels made.

Thank you for replying so quickly. tmandt, when you said use the search button did you mean to search for a way to make the hole or who to go to for custom jewels? I found a Black & Decker 3 Speed RTX Rotary Tool. Is this the tool to use to cut holes into Doors?
I found the tool at walmart.com

if u go buy a dremel this is how i do it

first u need a cut of wheel(get it as small as possible), a sanding bit or sanding paper, and the dremel duh

wat i do first is take off the silver ring with a screw driver
then i take my dremel with the cut off wheel and make a square in the circle up to the edges of the circle pop that out

carefully use ur cut off wheel to remove wat didn't come of with the square or make another square but the opposite way

then take ur sanding paper or bit(i like bit more it is faster but takes more skill) and sand down wat is left and u should be good to go

hope this helps if u need anything else pm me or just post up the question

thank u P3nnywise for the sig

That door has something like a magnifying glass in the hole and its white. I want a black door with a hole so I can put a custom jewel in.

Dremmeling would be the easiest way then finish off by sanding to perfection

you can also do it with an exacto knife jsut making sure you kinda "stab" the circle point to point then file and sound down. Its easy jsut put a game you dont really care about in the UMD drive like a demo or something and give it shapes! Means you dont have to take thew whole PSP apart either :winker:

I don't have a dremel so I used a special round drill piece, It worked fine but left a drill hole in the center of the cut out, So I couldn't do the rind of light mod
