555 timer chip

are the 555 timer chips at radio shack fine to use in the rapid fire mod or the ones on ebay the ones to get
if i get a 555 timer chip at radio shack do i have to program it or can it even be programed

i did search but i never get an answer because people start talking about the 16 pin microchips which are used in the spit fire mod just please try to help and give me answer need to know soon
can 555 timer chips be programed or is it just a load of bull:censored: on the ebay kits

also if they can be programed is there a way to buy them pre programed with out buying a kit

555 timers cannot be programmed as they are not blank chips...

555 is fine for rapid fire you just hav to set it up right, i have a schematic for it, all you need to do is build it on some vector board or vero board and youre set

heres the shematic:

im not sure of the resistors but everything else is good, find a power source on the board to leach from, then attach the outputs to were the fire connects to [not sure]

i dont understand how in .4 adding a diode changes it, i cant test this at the moment but if someone could give me a demo id be fairly pleased

if anyone has any questions about the 555 chip message i have a timer chip set up right now that is an on/off switch for my triggers and is adjustable

will the 555 rig in that tutorial work for both wireless and wired controllers?, and will it work on both older and newer style boards?
