Selling modded psp's as a business?
« on: October 08, 2008, 12:59:30 PM »
I'm thinking about buying slim psp's and putting them into clear cases and adding blue sound reacting lights to them and selling them on ebay. Is this a good idea? Will people actually buy them? How much do you guys think I could sell each one for? Sorry if I put this into the wrong board, I wasn't sure where to post it.

Dont think much people will buy, Modding has really slowed down and people dont really seem to care anymore and wont pay much for mods.

Is this general for all gaming systems or just the psp? That's sad  :sadno:

its every gaming system. modding isnt really a buisness with much volume, unless oyu have a bunch of ppl working for you, programs, etc., etc. do specific mods as a buisness. dont just do PSP's with clear cases and blue LED's, ask them what color they want. giving customers more range to pick from makes them to want to buy / use oyur services

Its for everything.

Most people wont pay more that 30$ for that, and a PSP Slim is gonna drop to like 100 so....

a good idea is when the psp-3000 ( i think it releases in the U.S in November) you can pick a couple of them up mod them and then sell it. but the insides might be different but probably similar to the slim. is that a good idea ?

psp 3000 will be modable though :P. Just keep in mind that there currently wont be any parts avilable for them for a while, eg. Custom cases, and spare mobo's ect if you stuff something.

Yeah. Also, when they first come out, there won't be any tutorials, so you'll really have to know what you're doing. They won't be cheap when they first come out, so if you mess up, it'll be like, 300 dollars down the drain...

First off.

I think it is safe to say every single modder worth his salt on this site has thought of this idea.

And secondly, there is alot of money in modchip installations.Although alot more skill is needed for those, than just soldering some leds.

And people are dumb to buy modchips and installation services for the psp because they don't know how to cut one single pin. I think that the psp 3000 is going to need a mod chip for it to be hacked.

No you are dumb for posting that comment, as you obviously don't understand the first thing about what the modchip does.
Secondly, i was talking about modchips for all consoles, Blockhead!  :taunt:

We shall frown upon them :( But there's a way to get epoxy off anyway so it doesn't matter.

What epoxy is this? Is it the white stuff that covers the circuitry in the batteries?

Firstly, dont mod and sell on ebay. Offer services to people...Create a mod service for sale on Ebay or Craigslist where people can send their psp's to you and they tell you what they want and you do it for them.

Secondly, Don't know how true that security check thing is but wouldnt that qualify as an invasion of privacy? (i'm sure someone could think up a few lawsuits for that) Also i'm sure the security check can be rewritten/disabled by DAX once he decompiles the firmware.

O_O I'm not quite sure how the firmware works, but to my understanding, it makes some sort of check with the IPL or w/e and makes sure some bytes match... Close enough   ... Anyway, how would that be invasion of privacy?

I see, that probably wouldnt qualify as an invasion of privacy...i thought the security check checked all the files on the system. Would be an invasion of privacy because they could possibly be going through private files.
