Yeah, there's still a way to turn off the LED's you can just add a switch to the circuit. Preferably a push button one because they are small so nothing will be sticking out of the case. You can have a look here for some.

If it is push button it must be latching.

personally, I liked the origional idea of this thread, using an external switched power supply. this could get dangerous if in the wrong hands, but in the hands of a skilled modder this has limitless possabilities. honestly, I've been hit with 5v, 12v, and I have had a dose of 120v. and am still kicking. the best thing about these lower voltages, is when they bite you, they let go, when you get up to 110-220v these grab hold of you.

kids please dont try this, this mod I agree should have lets say a 18 yr age limit or so, but I would not just look past it, you are working around these voltages when working inside the xbox anyway,
just make sue to use a selectable transformer, like the one I listed from radio shack, this way once the power gets to the xbox, it is the same as the usb anyway.

so realistically, this is not any more damgerous than  A. plugging the 360 into the wall, or B. soldering to the usb or 12 power source of the 360.

I disagree..

Plugging a 360 into a wall is alot safer, it is a professionally engineered device, not a socket cold-soldered into some leds and a 360. I'm not going to argue, electricity kills, end of.

anyways..

Sorry to burst your bubble, but ndrew did this mod aaaages ago.

Hey ease up man, everyone has to start somewhere - Here's a diagram to help you out:

All you got to the is cut the circuit and then just add a switch to to connect it up again.

Hope this helps

P.S. You better not be trying to do this mod.

Sorry about being so harsh, playing with electricity can be dangerous!

An example, if you had attempted to install a socket in your 360, wired up the leds with 30 AWG kynar wire, and then plugged the socket into 240 VAC, you know what would happen? The wiring would almost certainly catch fire. You were smart though, and posted here first.

Yeah I thought the power cable only supplied 12v, coz I saw one used in a radio. But then I figured out that the radio had something inside it which only used a certain amount of power. But I wasn't sure what. So I posted on here. I'm not a retard lol, I'm not that stupid to try pump 240v into 30 AWG wire, it would disintegrate. But again if i were to do the mod. I would just use the USB port as mentioned before you. That seems like the best and safest way.

ok try this: from the power source, positive goes to middle leg and negative goes to ground leave the fan ones as they are and de-solder the ground from wherever you soldered it to.

actually i found a way lol

Lets start with the main power source the red goes to positive and the black goes to ground, the fan's red wire goes on the assesory and the black on the ground.

You can add other LED's,Cathodes Fans and other things also as long as you don't over exceed the power consumption.
im thinking about adding a pinto meter for my whisper fan and also both my core cooler v2.

Ill Add a Diagram in the Edit

EDIT: \

EDIT V2: Note this is for a 3 port switch a 2 port is just a positive and a ground.

the best thing about these lower voltages, is when they bite you, they let go, when you get up to 110-220v these grab hold of you.
I am no expert in electrocution, but I wanted to elaborate on this a bit.......... I believe that the reason 110-220V AC "grabs" you is that the alternating current makes your muscles contract and you will have no control over them.  DC doesnt have as severe of an effect so most of the time you will be able to still controll your muscles and remove yourself from the power.

That being said, always remember to use one hand when working on AC or DC electricity to reduce the risk of creating a path through you heart with both hands.  Never work alone with electricity, make sure someone is in the room with you incase it does grab you, the other person can knock you off the source. If you ever need to knock someone off a source while they are being shocked, make sure to use a non conductive item like a wooden stool to get them off so you dont get bit (as badly) by the same source.  If there is no time or no item you can use, I suggest a running tackle....seriously, use your momentum to make sure you dont end up in the same situation.

Also avoid wearing rings or conductive jewelry because 99% of the time that is why people get shocked.
