No, he wanted to know if there's a cheaper adapter than the MS one.

Made for original Xbox.  Wireless G, works flawlessly.  I have it.  I set it up in less than 30 seconds on my 360.

Uhm...Routers don't hook up to laptops...

Just plug the other 360 into another ethernet port if you have one and share to both ports.

you could try using a straight wired router as a hub between you Xbox(s) and the laptop.  Remember to forward the correct ports and it may work.

I am talking about a $20 router with no wireless.

you can hook up a router to a laptop, but you have to reprogram the router, which is kinda risky

as chives said plug a router into the laptop. the lap top plugs into the port on the router that the modem usually plugs into, allow the router to share the laptops internet conection, then you can plug uptop four xboxes or whatever into the router.

yes, you will have to go into the settings and program the router to do what you want it to do, but there are set up wizards that will guide you through the process.

"Risky" thats just obserd. there is allways a RESET button on the back of the router, besides you are not modding anything, you are using the router for what it was manufactuered for. If you call the routers manufacturer and tell them what you are trying to do the tech support will walk you through it. "risky"........oops I almost said sonething I shouldnt have LOL.

good luck

i think what hes trying to say is...
when using the laptop as his wireless adapter can another xbox use the same laptop as an adpater...
If your laptop has only one ethernet port then only one xbox can connect.

yep, thats right on the question.
and the answer is only one xbox can plug into the one port.
but if you plug a router or switch into that port, you can plug in multipule systems

I think the most cheaper is D-Link DI-524, the DI-524 can be purchased for $20 USD or lower.

ok I would like to chime in on the router thing.  If you want to hook up more then one thing to your computer and have your computer connect them to the internet then here's how you do it.

Most routers have a ethernet port that just goes to your modem or broadband box.   What you do is plug a cable from there into your computer.   Then you connect everything else up as normal.   if you have your laptop configured as a bridge then you shouldn't have to do anything else.  No setting tweeking or anything else.

Also you can hack a lot of wireless routers out on the market to become wireless bridges to do the same purpose if you would to do that.  it's a custom firmware called dd-wrt, just search it on google if your interested.

I have one of my 360's hooked up to my network using a linksys wrt54gs using dd-wrt firmware. Its connected to a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 wireless router with dd-wrt firmware. Works perfect.

I am using buffalo and it is working good. the problem is if you settle for something cheaper, you might compromise the quality of your connection. if your work entails too much usage of the internet, well, you better buy a browser than can give you what you need and how you need it.
Get the best deal on wireless internet, get the service of the best wireless internet providers and enjoy a one of a kind mobile browsing experience.

tim welcome to acidmods. you are new so its no big deal. but in the future please check the date of the previous post before replying to a  two year old thread. that is what we call a super duper bump to an old topic which is fround upon. the global mods are not as nice as I and tend to issue warnings and bans for such actions....JK mods.
