yea can anyone point me to any good external hd's plz. im running out of room  :boxed:

or internal but idk how to install an internal hd. well i do know how to install i jsut dont know what to do software wise :(

I got a nice western digital 500gb external for like, 125 bucks... It hasn't died yet so yeah :)

ok the external is hooked up right? can i dl something straight to it? or i have to dl to comp first then transfer?

I use it as a backup drive so I never put anything directly onto it, but you should be able to just download onto it... it's only connected by usb. I've probably had it for more than half a year. Not very long, but so far I'm pleased with it.

as long as its plugged in and on you can DL strate to it.

as for the mybooks, in my opinion they are to loud.

if you want to install a new HDD in you computer the first thing to do would be to find out if you have SATA ports or IDE ports. an IDE port will be a long rectangle with a lot of pins and the cable will be a large flat ribbon cable. a SATA port will be much smaller and will have a sort of L shape to the plug. the cables will also be much smaller. Once the HDD is hooked up all you will need to do is format it and you are good to go.

i know i have a sata for my current comp. and ide for my old dell. i need a new one :( but yea i think ima get an external hd or somin. how would i back my whole comp up btw?

if you check out gizmodo their deal of the day usually has a 1tb external hdd for about $100

firewire as a format is dead. a PCI to firewire card will work. but usb 2.0 is the way to go, unless you want to wight for usb 3.0
