Is The Photofast Mod Compatible?
« on: March 14, 2009, 06:57:47 PM »
I been searching these threads and faqs for like three hours now and I can't seem to find a mention of a phat using the Photofast CR-3100. I tried the search function and it turns up nothing. I did look at the tutorial for adding it to a slim, but I have a phat and he didn't mention them. I hope so because as soon as I know it works I am getting one because well I haven't used a UMD in over a year anyway and the space would be nice. Thanks

Yes, I believe it is. But the thing is, you need to solder the contacts from the Photofast to the the contacts which connect the memory card port to the motherboard (near the lower left corner of board in the picture, right under memorycard port itself). It would be 4/5 toughness for the soldering though, so good luck! Tell us if you get it done

And if I happen to be wrong, feel free to correct me anyone. :yess:

i would say 2/5 if you use flux
However today I was brutally raped by a door handle, and none of my friends helped me up off the floor after ten minutes, instead they all teabaged me, all 10 of them...

Yes, you could also cut off the mold of the memorystick and just get at some wires, that might make the project easier to, but you loose the ease of being able to operate it with a slim if you decide to take it out.

Thank you guys for your help. I am off to go get one now and believe you me, I will let you know when its done. By the way is the 32 GB the most the psp will handle? Because the link I followed from this forum lists the ability to put in two 32 GB cards but I just see every one using the two 16's.

With the new update (if you got it) I think it said up to 1TB I think it was a VERY large number I remember.

They actually do have 1 TB pro duo memory cards prototypes made! it was at CES.

A 1TB memory card would be ridiculous. That's like 1000GB isn't it. I don't think they could fit all that space into a single card.

they said its possible up to 2tb in a memory stick pro, but not a memory stick pro duo. only a matter of time though..

i think that custom firmware lifts memory limits but the photofast is limited to 2 16gb cards...

I still think that much space in a memory card is a hell of a lot more than overkill. I mean honestly, how many devices do you know that have support for that much memory? Not to mention the price of the card? Really, who wants to take out a loan just to buy a memory card. Anyway a card like that just really isn't practical yet.

The 32 gb that you can get from the photofast is enough.

Don't some dudes stick the 3100 the other way around so that it can reach the MS reader?  I thought I've seen some pics of phats with the 3100 turned around.
