Mobo recomendations
« on: June 26, 2009, 09:02:57 PM »
Hey guys, I was wondering what mobos you guys recommend. This are my specs right now:
-Motherboard: ECS GF7050VT-M LGA 775 GeForce7050 / 610i Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
-Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz
-Memory(RAM): 2GB(not sure of the brand)
-Power Supply: Antec NeoPower 550
-Tower Case: Antec 300 Mini Tower
-Operating System: Windows XP SP3
- Hard Drive: Maxtor 500GB

And some members on here said that my mobo isn't to good for my CPU, so I wanted to upgrade that one first. I want one that can upgrade to atleast 4GB ram.

Also, I was wondering why do people lean more towards ASUS mobos? is it just personal preference? or cause they are better overall?
And I was thinking water cooling. yay or nay?

EDIT: Also, mobos with the big yellow circle(like ones on the tv for video games), how would you hook that up to a monitor with only DVI or VGA input on the back?

I would say nay on the water cooling, just because it requires upkeep and it is much easier to just have a good air cooler. As far as he mobo goes.. Are you looking at going sli or crossfire or just a single card?

Get an Intel DP45SG

I've got another comp in the house with that and it does fine.  As it stands right now, I  think Crossfire's a little better than SLI.  Either way, they're both great!

I would recommend getting a Gigabyte P45-UD3P if you want to upgrade right now. They are the best P45 motherboards for overclocking and are very stable. They are only about $100 too. :D

How's the Onboard? Cause it looks like I'm gonna have to live off it for a while.

If you need to use onboard video, I recommend the EVGA 730i.
