I made one and decided to post it here. sorry if its in the wrong section i couln't decide where to post it.
Ghetto home made coilgun
specs
-charger circuit from a disposable camera
-4 300 volt capacitors wired in parallel.
-440uf in total
-about 10 layers 20 +/- a few turns on each layer
-i did not have a solid state switch setup or anything so just touching two alligator clips together to fire :hifive:
-a laser pointer ziptied to make the laser sight

Impressive. I've always wanted to make one, but never got around to making it. Are you looking to build it into a case?

i thought about it.. a plexiglass case and stuff.. but the only thing i need is a solid state switch .. because traditional switches just melt and get stuck cause of the intense power flow

ps: @ryan0 : the bb bounced back from the highlighter and hit my hand and it hurt a little soo that should help you estimate the power...
