LED Propeller Clock
« on: February 14, 2010, 04:23:07 PM »
I was wondering if someone would be able to put together a parts list/schematic and entire tutorial on how to make an led propeller clock.  I saw one on youtube and it was AMAZING :beg:  And obviously we will need some hex codes too.

its called Persistance of Vision or POV where you spin leds to make the effect of scaning lines on a tv in other words you can make 10 leds look like 100 individually controllable leds.  Tons of open projects out there from hand spun devices to a fan to bycicle tires.

Ya i know you can get kits, but i think it would be awesome if someone on here can make an asm for it.  I would like to try to write one but its to much work, and im a busy guy.

There are really too many variables to make an asm which people can apply to more than one project, this is because of the fact that each person will probably use it for a different application with different voltages, different amounts of LED's and in different formats. The code for the fan POV message board and the bicycle tyre one is probably totally different because they have to act in different conditions.
tbh I don't think anyone could be bothered...

I could, if I had the funding lol, I wouldn't want to pay for all the stuff I would need to make a few prototypes on my own. I was thinking one of these would be cool in a PSP instead of a jewel as you would be able to change the picture if you do it right but it would be hard to make it thin enough to fit in the UMD door.

as stated there are alot of items like this on instructables. I have a pro account which allows me to download all the files and stuff. if anyone finds something they like and dont want to pay for it, provide alink and I will provide it for you, the way I see it is, I might as well get my moneys worth.

I don't need instructions, I meant that I would need to buy a motor, PIC etc.

The motors that are used are usually from an old cpu fan

I'm guessing an old Hard drive motor would be a good bet as they usually spin quite quick and are quite thin due to their purpose.
