speaker leds help!

I have these speakers that you can hook up to anything that has a headphone jack.
Prob: I want sound reactive leds ,but when i solder them it does nothing.
Is there anything im doing wrong ? :help:

hey, i did a project similar to that. it works off a 9v with 9 leds 3 rows of 3 parallel leds. and a female jack for headphones and male jack for ipod/mp3. heres a diagram for just male jack running off a 12v. il post up a schematic for the one i did aswell later.

you need to determine what power supply is being provided to the speaker. you may be over/under powering the led which is why it wont light
