tda2822 & lm386

Are they the same? And if they are the same. What are the pinouts for the tda2822?

they're not exactly the same, but serve the same purpose as a low voltage Audio power amplifier... though looking at the datasheets for both it looks as if it may possibly be a better option since it's minimum voltage requirement is 1.8v (then again I may be missing something but the lm386 datasheet specifies a minimum voltage of 4v)...

TDA series sucks IMO
LM series rocks IMO

if they seem to be the same... LM series would be better.


BUT!!! It depends on what you want to do....

They are pretty closely related amps.

The LM386 has a better Q-point than the TDA2822 (which means the LM386 will distort less if your circuit is built properly).




I have found that LM series op amps are better overall with any application. TDA series is cheaper but LM series lasts longer.

Thanks for your reply guys. I was thinking to use this as a substitute for lm386 for my sound reactive leds. I was looking for a smaller version of lm386. Like, small ones that I saw on other forums selling them like for $5 each. (which is kinda expensive, they called them sound board btw)

yeah you could use the tda2822 for sound reactive LEDs... i just wouldn't use it for a speaker mod because the sound quality would be terrible.
