if you are running Linux just get like a windows or mac emulater to run the programs for the phone

If you mean by iphone 1 generation then i guess that would be correct... However its generally known as the iPhone 2g. It's a 2g phone. If you do buy one make sure to dual boot it with android firmware... I did that back in the day when I had one. It's quite the fun process. Used they go for about 65 dollars to 125 depending if they are unlocked. It its more than that you're getting ripped off.
