Nice! Very clean as previously mentioned. I needed to replace my minty boost anyway. It looks like I am going to Radio Shack tomorrow! Bwaha

Cool, so now I can charge my phone on the go without buying any of those special things lol.

Unfortunattly for me the site I usually order my electronics parts from doesnt have the LT1302CN8-5 in stock lol. Im gonna have to buy them from somewhere else cause Im not buying 250 of them lol.

Ughh im having a hard time finding a place that has the LT1302CN8-5 and the 10uH inductor 1.5A in stock. any suggestions?

US isn't listed under Select your country or region. FML why are some components such a pain  to find.

I tried there before... they want to charge me $20 as a handling fee. My total is only $8.89 (those 2 items) but if I add everything else it would be 13.68 plus the $20usd which is complete crap cause id also have to pay shipping :(

The reason they are charging that $20 is because they are coming from Farnell, so they would have to be shipped overseas.  Newark is where I usually get my microchips.  You are right though, it is kinda hard to find that chip here in the US, no one seems to stock it.

Just trying to gauge interest, would many people be interested in purchasing a complete kit for this project?

It appears that it isnt actually putting out enough power fast enough to actually charge it, even though the phone says its charging, its still taking power from the chargers batteries and some from the phone batteries itself. I turned my phone off and plugged it in over night. When I woke up, the batteries in the charger were dead and my phone was completely dead :/

maybe your phone isnt compatable

try putting fresh batteries in dont plug anyting into the usb then measure the current drawn from the batteries then report back

I got 4.92 volts.

Also, my phone pretty much has to be compatible lol, the wall charger it comes with has a usb port on it for me to plug the included cable into. Without that cable plugged into the wall charger, there is no charging cable on it lol.

what phone model do you have? well most phones charger with 500mA to 1A(smart phones). some phones and iphones have a trick were a certain pullup resistor tells the phone how to charge,a quick charge to a long charge. most phones have a system were they will charge the phone up to 80% quickly, then after that it takes forever... lol

No I mean current, so amps (or milliamps in this case) drawn from the batteries, so you need to put your multimeter on the amps setting and put the probes in series with the battery pack, if you used 4 batteries with 2 diodes put it in series after the diodes.
