XBOX360 Add extra buttons to controller mod.
« on: June 04, 2012, 05:21:48 PM »
As above. Im looking to hire someone capable of adding a couple of extra buttons to a standard xbox360 controller. The extra buttons would just be there to give me extra options for the right trigger (firing). I did find a video on youtube showing what im after, although I would prob need it tweaked a bit to suit my needs better.
ADD EXTRA BUTTONS TO YOUR XBOX 360 CONTROLLER (EXTRA BUTTON MOD)

cheers

In what ways do you want your mod do be different than this video?

You mentioned...

Did you mean that somehow these buttons would be tied to RT? Or having extra buttons would make it easier when you are firing?

just the button placement is all. I would need the two extra buttons to be added on on the left side (underneath) as opposed to the right side like he has in the video.

so you want two buttons underneath on the left side (for your left hand) and what do you want them to do?

big buttons as shown in the video?

your looking at about $75.00 plus shipping or send me a controller and Ill do it for 25$ plus shipping.

ideally one would be tied to the right trigger and the other to the left trigger. that gives me a cpl of options when it come to button configurations (eg. default or southpaw tactical).
in saying that even having just one button added and tied to the RT would be good enough but, yeh 2 extra buttons tied to both LT & RT would be brilliant.

Matt,

One button to work the Right Trigger and the other to work the Left Trigger. If your still able to do, I am happy to go ahead.

still looking for a modder! i only need the RT (right trigger) to be replicated now, rather than both triggers. can anyone help with this mod?

I just need an extra button added to the controller with the RT wired to it. I would be happy to order 2 of these to make it more worthwhile..

nice thread dont mean to hi jack it but in order to duplicate a button lets use b as an example we just tap into it and wire it to the switch and either or will have functionality ? hmmm maybe ill try this
thanks to rdc he provided us with board scans which will help you find the traces needed to tap into

can anyone confirm this guy's question? im getting to the point where im forced to attempt this myself with absolutely no experience with this kind of thing.

so i drill a hole, add a button and run a wire from RT to the new button is this right? anyone?

wiring is easy part lol..... placement is not. The RT button on the bottom left is done, but the button on top is harder. I have small tact switches and these 3/8" buttons i used for the bottom. I feel the 3/8 button sticks up too high, what u think? The tact switches are small. ( about half the size of a pencil eraser end, but will be flush with the other buttons...

I didnt add any tags. the forum auto bbc function does that.

Dropbox linked images do not provide a embed link, nor do they display when put in [img] brackets...

so is my theory correct? yeah matt that tact button looks good i wanna gonna try with a smaller tact button but it sits to flush
so instead of wiring it to the pads like the guy did in the video we can just tap into the traces etc?
will this work on any button any limitations?

Yes, I would prefer you wire to the traces and not the pads themselves.  If it is matrix, you need both sides of the button pad. If it is cg you can use the input side of the pad and send the side of your push button to ground.

The button I have is a standard pushbutton that I think is too high. I can use a tact, but it is very small in diameter and for someone with limited movement, they may be hard to activate. So I am waiting on onethumb to let me know.
