Jdm-050 not charge battery and sometimes it is not
« on: March 24, 2021, 03:08:36 AM »
my controller when I connect it to the usb to charge it makes a yellow light and then turns off suddenly and sometimes it is not recognized, I tried all the solutions, battery change, the usb cable, the 12 pin cable together with the usb and even reset it . I think it's the power board or ic, can anyone tell me which of the 3 is the one that deals with the power supply?

The 7736 is the PMIC.

ok nice, but if the problem is a shorted cap, how can I identify it with the multimeter? I am not practical in testing the components I know only to replace them

A meter isn't going to be of much help there, as there could be who knows how many other caps in parallel with the one you are looking for, so all of them would measure bad. The only way to find a bad cap with a meter would be to remove it from the board and test it, and until you find the bad one, if there even is one, you might have to take every cap off the board.

The better way to find a suspect shorted cap, when multiple ones are involved, is to see which one is getting too hot quickly. If you don't have access to any kind of thermal camera, then just take a Q-tip and use it to place some rubbing alcohol on the board in a 1" area or so. Power it up, before it all evaporates away on it's own and, whatever is getting hot first in there it will evaporate off of it the quickest. If nothing seems suspicious in that area, then power it off, apply some more in a different spot and try again.

That method typically works best when the device has the power injected, versus powering it on normally, so the thing can't turn itself off if it detects that short and nothing would warm up. Be aware that injecting voltage needs to be at or slightly below the voltage that should be on that rail to begin with as to not cause any further damage, and it should come from a current limited source as well. Both of those can be done with a decent bench top PSU, and whatever voltage and an Amp or so is all that's usually needed. If you go looking for bad caps by injecting 12v from a 10 Amp PSU into places where 3.2v and milliAmps are supposed to be, well now you have plenty more issues than a shorted cap to sort out.

some have told me to try ice spray for electronic components, but what if instead I try to use an easy charge, that is, could this solve the problem temporarily? https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0aDuRH

Freeze spray, can of air duster turned upside down, whatever you have there, they will all do the same thing for that.

Temporary solutions are usually what the next guy has to fix. I'd either repair it and be done, or turn it into a donor board and be done. But ultimately it's up to you if you want to experiment around there.

Are capacitor? the values are 100k or 1nf?

Or they are 3.2vA rail?I know I'm bothering you but I practically have to learn how to do these repairs because if one day I have to fix something more expensive than a controller at least I know a little more.

I think I have found the problem, a component is wrong and it seems that it is related to the problem that the controller that instead of charging just blinks once and turns off, I tried to put it back but now it blinks endlessly, someone knows The name of component?
