Security Mod for your PSP Phat
« on: December 03, 2007, 07:56:29 PM »
Hey all check this out... Cyber and I were talking on Friday about his guitar and he gave me a great idea. A switch that would enable you to turn on your PSP without touching it. This would allow you to disable your original PSP switch and replace it with this one... Now you can prevent your little brother or sister from turning on your PSP, or you can have both switches and amaze your friends!!!  :winker:  All you would need becides the switch installed is a small magnet.. Look for the Tutorial posted here tomorrow!

And without delay

Its cool in theory, But whats to stop your little brother or sister swiping there hands over it too?
And it looks impractical, I mean how can you even use the psp if your hand has to be over where the sensor switch is that turns on/off the psp, like would it it just keep switching on and off while you try to use it?

Awesome mod. Extremely simple, but very cool nonetheless for presentation purposes. I think I'll definitely give this one a go sometime.

see it is a switch turned on by a magnet...... check the first post and read it it says you need a small magnet......AND!!! also this would be wicked awesome if you could put this into a GH guitar and just use a magnet as a pick...

Well actually when i was typing my first post i was asking what was the point of it if your brothers sisters can get a magnet, But when i re read it before posting it i didn't see the word magnet and presumed i remembered the word from another thread then restructured my post. Teach me to re read a post.

I've been considering this. Is it a toggle, or an on/off momentary thing?

Cyber's comment on psp-hacks:

it uses a magnet to turn on and off ther is a tiny glass tube inside called a reed switch. if you pass a magnet over a reed switch it actovates. so with out the magnet it won’t turn on or off.

does you get the "attractive" pun now?

All reed switches work like that, you see them in basic home security system such as the ones you put on windows and doors, once the window or door opens it pulls the magnet of the switch and bam off goes the alarm.

They look something like this inside the glass tube

-----------------------------------
                                              -----------------------------------------------------------------

The dotted lines are just simple strips of metal, the magnet pulls them together and thats how it activates.

lol ight, well heres wat i think.

its a very cool mod idea. However due to my current situation [no annoying siblings at home] i wouldnt install it on my psp.

However, i would put it in one of my other psps just becuase of the coolness factor. But other than that, carrying around a magnet? the best idea  i can think of is just connecting it to the place where ur wriststrap goes, becuase no one will automatically think touse a magnet to turnon ur psp. So actually, i very well might install it

^^.....feedback ;)

LOL yeah some people just don't think. Also most people beleive intelegence is based on how well you can spell when in fact it is how well you can problem solve that is why there are more then one IQ test for Mensa. Most intelegent people can articulate very well but have trouble spelling.

Hey I don't think you need to be that extreme. In the tut it tells you what parts you need. BTW the tut is done just waiting for someone to review. Trust me I can't wait to show everyone...
