I Wonder what would cause this to happen?

I bought a Psp Daxter off ebay with the following discription.

Unit powers on, displays screen & has sound but goes blank when UMD is inserted

Plays UMDs & can still hear sound.

I have not recieved it yet but can't stop thinking about what would cause this.

Maybe the backlight tab broke, and the mobo is not secured. When you put the umd in, it pushes the switch on mobo, making it move. WHen it moves, the backlight cable moves out of the thing, and it turns backlight off? Idk maybe.

if the tab is broken it is easy to fix all you is put electric tape over the acctuall thingo that holds thew cable in thats what i did works like a breeze

I recieved it in mail
I checked it out.
Nothing works on home start volume bar. 
I can start games if I don't have to use any of those keys. 
When I want to puase game I just move power switch for about 1 sec
To quit I have to hold power button up for 3 secs.

I believe I need a new home bar with ribbon.  I have had a difficult
time locating these.
I live in the Usa.  I can't find them on ebay for the slims.

Does anyone want to sell a working home bar with ribbon for the slim.

check and see if the dude even opened up the psp. if he did then he screwed with it really badly and you probably got an unfixable mobo.

I had one, but i sold it, sorry, dunno where your gonna get one for sensible money.

you should open it up and make sure everything is securely fastened...    cuz my slim homebar didnt work just cuz it wasnt in the slot all the way.?.?.?

It was unopened when I got  it. 
The ribbon was inserted all the way.
I wonder if they damaged it at the factory.
