Question:

I'm very interested in doing the Hold-switch-mod to turn on the trigger LEDs.

I was planning to go by the diagram showing the scratch and the wires added on in paint. (This one: http://www.btinternet.com/~deflection/scratched2bk2.jpg )

When the hold switch is turned on I want it to ONLY power the LEDs and not disable my other functions.

In other words....will scratching the surface like that prevent the hold function from working? (good thing in my case) I know it can be done but I'm just making sure.

by scratching the trace on the mobo you will remove the functionality of the HOLD switch...

also remember:

i just cut my left index finger up with my dremel so typing is a pain...

it isnt too bad, just at that pain stage!!!

the second pic is correct, the far right point is the proper connection...

just thought i would stick this in this thread for those that havent seen the video of 3
of my units done using the hold switch , i should have really stuck the vid in this thread first rather than make a new 1 so here it is.
i even end up dropping the phone camera at the end. lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRD-kmLlMv4

hope to do the sound mod in the last 2 units i have.

[TUT] How to make your HOLD button into a secondary switch (when in hold the switch is made)

Pros: Switch that is stock and doesnt look like it does anything special! coolness factor +5?

Cons: cant put psp on hold (wtf do people use it for anyhow, i only used it once when i first got my psp (day one of US release)@!!!!

ITEMS NEEDED:
1x PsP
10x Minutes (variable depending on skill and steps required)
1x shank/blade/razor/needle/something sharp that can scratch small surfaces
Semi-Advanced modding abilities

Here we go, if you cant get to this point without me telling you then this mod is NOT for you!!!

REMOVE YOUR POWER SWITCH CIRCUIT BOARD (also known as the []ox/\ board)

position the board like so:

disjoint the connection by scratching the trace on the board, test with multimeter to make sure you have a full break (use a soft toothbrush to clean off the board after scratching)
Example:

the top two connections are the hold switch! when in hold the connection is made and whatever you have the switch do it does!

^^ GLHF ^^

**EDIT**

LOOK AT THIS PICTURE BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING DRASTIC:

so all i have to do is scratch the thing off and im done ?

Here is what it should look like, with an actual wire soldered to the correct point:

so you just scratch that bit off and solder everything normally on the other side and it would work?

I want to see if i understand this right.  The positive wire is soldered to the same place as in the normal mod.  The negative wire is attached to the hold switch instead of the place on the top of the power board.  Also that area is scraped off.  Is this correct?
