nunchuck LED joystick mod help

im pretty experieced when it comes to these things however i soldered the led on the corect points on the nunchuck pcb but my wii doesnt recognize the nunchuck when plugged in. i dont understand, and as soon as i take it off, it works.
any suggestions? am i simply just using the wrong LED? im using a 3mm red LED so it shouldnt be a problem...

hmm, what do u mean? if you have something pluged in the wiimote while its in the home screen, the wii mote wont work, but the leds should work as long as its plugged in and ther is power in the wiimote
make sure u have + on + an - on -

thanks for the welcome, ive actually been looking around at acidmods for a while but never added an account, plus i just got my wii.
the actual problem i think is the led is drawing too much current
im testing it in a game that requires a nunchuck. as soon as i connect the led and it lights up, a game says to reconnect it. it loses the signal as soon as i connect the led. i tried outting in a weaker led and it works, however i can barely tell i installed an led. so idk why it wont work. ill just hae to take it out unless anyone has any tips for making an led seem brighter

and dude i got 3mm leds in my nun chuck and it work fine..
im using a blue led, are u using tmandts tut to wire it up?

i get it but how does it make it brighter, why would u want to cover up the led?

Are you sure you're not shorting something out?  When I did this mod the first time, I accidentally shorted two points together, so it wouldn't work at all.  As soon as I re-soldered it, it worked just fine.  That would explain the second led working.

theres a much easier solution, just simply use a resistor to reduce the amount of current the led is receiving

thats what i figured. i guess ill need todig out a multimeter and head over to radioshack. unless anyone has any idea the output voltage and current that those connection points send out on the motherboard of the nunchuck.
