sound reactive with speakers and headphone jack?

Is there a way to have the leds sound reactive with both the headphone jack and speakers? Ive looked around n saw the theorical pictures here
https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=2959.270 but couldnt get them workin'.  I got them wired up but the internal speakers stay lit, while the hearphone jack when plugged it is sound reactive. If someone has a diagram that would be great 'cause im a visual learner, but point me in the right direction would help 2.

I think I *may* know a way to do it.

You will need 2 general purpose diodes from radioshack. These diodes have 2 leads, and one side of the diode has black other side has orange. Solder the orange side of the diode to the positive portion of the headphone jack. Do this again using another diode onto the negative portion of the headphone jack. Now solder the black ends of the positive and negative diodes proper points of the lm386/LEDs respectively.

sorry to bump this thread, but anyone get this to work? i heard the diodes were sensitive to heat, and i might of killed them, but i couldn't get the both of them to be sound reactive, either one or the other.

The headphone jack is a switch. It turns off the speakers when you plug in the headphones.

If you wired the inputs to your sound amps at the speakers they will shut off when you
plug in the headphone jack.

If you want them both active at the same time you will have to wire you sound amps
to the input to the switch in the headphone jack itself.

If you look closely you will see the input to the speakers go into the headphone
jack and then the switched side goes out to the speakers. You can either hook
your amp there or jumper the headphone jack switch so they stay on and you can
leave where they are wired.
