« on: February 02, 2009, 10:58:15 AM »
I ordered the tilt board today, I have had my eye on this for a while now, and decided today was the day. has anyone done this mod before? is it worth the $40?? we will find out by the end of the week. it looks like a tough install, both triggers and anolog sticks must be removed and modified and put back on..WOW..but I think I can manage!!LOL

yes it does, but they are not very good. If it can be done, I will get it done, I will take pics along the way so anyone else who is thinking of this can have a look.

like I said both anolog sticks must be completly removed....not easy
both triggers must be removed in order to properly remove the anolog sticks...not easy

I thought about getting one too, but then decided not to. It does look cool at first, but I thought it wouldn't be nearly as fun after a while.

pulling the anologs is actually very simple with the right tools.  I recommend getting that "desoldering thingy" that Dark_Daniel suggested....haha http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062745 it will make ur life so much easier when it comes to taking the analogs off.

could also try and use solder braid too.

I have a vacuum, I have that one actually, it doesnt work very well, I will get a braid aswell. tracking shows the parts to be here tomarrow. like I said I will post all the pics along the way

I spent $200, I got leds, tilt boards, playstation/xbox anolog sticks (rounded top), etc... it is shaping up to be a good weekend it is a real shame I could not get the parts here, I would have paid a little more, to support this site, something to think about mike.

my plan is, white controller, black triggers and bumpers, black rounded anolog sticks, blue led ring of light, three mode rapid fire with x dome led indicator (also blue) and tilt sinsitivity. one large rumble pack to remain...sounds like fun.. I may be devorced after I am done, but I will have an awsome controller. LOL

package was just delived to my house!!! two day shipping when I paid for 3 gotta love that (11.29)

here is what came in the packaging,
I got the blue leds done last night without a problem, I want to get everything else done before I install the tilt board, changing the leds were easy. why do people have some much trouble with that?? anyway. I took pics of the new leds, will post them up after work.

ok blue leds are done:

you dont have to completly remove the anolog just the pots, remove them and bend up the center pin:

put them back in place with center pin bent up so you can get to it later, and replace the trigger"

thats it for today
early test:

final placement:

preprapid fire socket:

program pic:

final fit and install:

finished front:

finished back:

it is hard not to grin..LOL it is a fun mod, fun to play with and fun/testing to install, the directions were wrong, and there was some very critical solder points. but all in all it works the way it is advertised, which is very hard to get acustom to. I keep trying the stick in motion mode and nothing happens LOL I am going to move the run button now that I am getting more and more used to it.

if any one is going to do this, you can follow the directions from talismoon, however, when it tells you to put the trigger back on, that is the wrong step, if you do so, you will not be able to get to the existing solder point for the canter pin of the Y pot. you must solder a leed onto the hole where the center pin of the top pot was, and then put the trigger back on, I learned this the hard way.

also if you are doing a wireless controller, throw the extra diode away, you only need it for a wired controller, this is the question that got me started with this mod in the first place.
