DONT USE GAMESTOP RECHARGEABLE PACKS !!!

I recently bought sega megadrive ultimate collection for the 360 . at the same time , i bought the GameStop rechargeable batteries for my controller (was getting bored of giving the dullex bunny all my money ) . so i got home , started to charge and play.

after about 1 hour , my xbox gave me an ''disconnected controller'' pop-up , then crashed. so i turned it all off and went to remove the battery pack..... and what do ya know , THE THING HAD FREAKING MELTED !!!!

so i grabbed a knife from the kitchen and pried it away from my controller .
It was bad enough that it was melted away , but it also DESTROYED the motherboard. so i called em up and explained to them what happened . they said they'll give me a brand new controller and an Official microsoft recharge pack.

So , i borrowed a spare controller from my brother to use that night , and when i turned my xbox back on ...... IT GAVE ME BACK 3RROD !!!! called em back up again and they'll give me a new xbox aswell.

but this is just to send a message out to everyone not to trust the quallity of gamestop batteries.

plus take that batt pack back to gamestop

You're pretty lucky.

The RRoD is NOT the fault of the batteries, so by right they should not be replacing it. The only thing they, by right, have to replace is the battery pack.

You've got one nice group of employees over at that gamestop.

yup, controller and battery they should replace, RROD is just a coincedence that it happened at the same time. Ur a lucky dog, thats for sure thanks for the headsup on those batteries tho.

the red ring is hardware failure, it dosnt exactly mean its the mobo. "hardware failure" could mean burned out usb???? I am not sure, but I think that is too close to be a coincidence.

Maybe they are covering their backs? if a battery melts in your hands it could be quite painful.

On topic: I wouldnt be suprized if damaging ur USB power bus could cause RROD. Considering how many dozens of failures can be the cause of RROD, it seems plausible.  guess I missed the part about the controller being plugged in when the failure occurred.

Hooray, gamestop does have a tiny conscience..... even though they are pushing millon$$ in used games and dont give any of it to the developers

when u get ur 360 fixed by microsoft ask them if the usb was at fault if so...
then gamestop should reimburse u that 100
assuming its not used(generally they dont reimburse many used things)

Gamestop is replacing the controller, battery pack, AND the 360.

funny thing ... for us here in austria gamestop doesn´t repair anything ... they gave the repairs to us t do them for them ... but they give warrantie to all their customers so if something like that will happen they change the items at once

BladeWing, I am glad everything worked out in your favor, and you get everything fixed with a slight inconviniace to you, but atleast it did not hit your wallet.
