As far as I know that should work.  I have a picture of the LEDs from the ring somwhere, I will try to dig them up for you.

Yes its possible, you will need 0603 SMT LED's and the forward voltage has to be less than 3.0v because that's all the controller has to play with. Getting any red LED's will be fine, but just in case you get blue ones they are usually over 3.0v, but there are some under it. (I got a blue ring of light on my controller)

You can get the red LEDs from this guy/chick:

http://cgi.ebay.com/50-PCS-0603-SMT-SMD-450-mcd-RED-LED-Free-Ship_W0QQitemZ220278241159QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item220278241159&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

I got my blue LED's from him/her and they work perfectly, and all the red ones are under 3.0v so your all set to go. Good luck. Hope to see pictures.

cant you just reverse the LEDs for the ROL in order to make it RED?  Not sure but we all know that those green ROL LEDs are capable of turning red

since they are 0603 that means there are only two leads, so if you send current one way you get GREEN and if you reverse the current you would get RED. IDK dont ever remember seeing anyone do it, but seems like a very straight forward mod if you are able to successfully remove the LEDs and reverse there direction.

If you do this and it works, just watch out for the GRoD! :taunt:

if you want to switch them, you will have to cut 2 of the leads to the led(red and green) then solder them backwards in the way you would nomarally have them, it would be easier to just solder NEW leds

looks like there are 3 leads on the 4 Outside LEDs on the ROL board.  so you cant just flip em, like treemty said you have to cut and jump to do what I was talking about.
