Hey, thats really nice:)

Anyway, how did you etch the PSP logo on the back. I currently have SR triggers and once school gets out i was gonna crack it open again and install the LEDs for my half complete RoL (have the clear ring, but no LEDs). So, I figure if i'm gonna open it up anyway, i might as well do something neat like that

I used a very thin drill bit with my dremel station the size i dnt remember ill take a guess at .022 some where around there.

Now for that switch be very careful when gluing it down. The glue intends to make its way inside the switch and wont move at all. So keep that in mind.

No not really your using 2n2222 NPN transistor Im using LM386 and this is done on a slim not a phat. Witch was much harder. Your diagram is way different then the diagram I used so i didnt copy. Also where are the pics of your psp did you even attempted this.

You did a Lm386 on a slim? I thought that it wasn't really sound reactive with Lm386 on a slim. How did you make it so reactive? Was it the wire?

Dude the LM386 gives sound boost to the speakers but also reaction to the leds. The boost power for the speakers is also connecting to the leds give them a reaction as well as the speakers get there high volume reaction.

Well i think each one does the same purpose but i dnt know much about the 2n222 transistor it does something that im not sure about. I think its smaller and has more point for leds to connect not totally positive unless you know already.. But i know its more expensive the LM386. But for me im more confertable with the LM386 just what ever suits is what youll use.

Ok i think i will stick with the Lm386 because this will be my first time modding. The reason I thought that the Lm 386 was not really reactive was because I saw this video of Bustinthejustin's psp.

He used a Lm386 in a slim. Why is it that his is not very reactive and your very reactive?
Is it the song choice?

Hmm that is odd. I wonder what he did or how he set his up. Like is see i tiny bit of sound reactive but not enough to call it that. Should ask him how he did his then i may be able to figure out why its not doing that.

It's just an opinion, but i always found the transistor mod was better for slims than the Lm386. they do work but you have to play around with the two resistors to get it working correctly. with the transistor, there is less wire/soldering and requires less power to run. very easy to setup too.

Not intentionally aphex yea it may be easier but i never messed with the resistors at all and it did just fine.

wow! that's awesome. i want to do this in my psp. i have a question with your diagram on the "appropriate resistor for the leds", what resistor should i use if i have a total of 24 leds (12 blue and 12 purple)?

or maybe someone can teach me how to calculate the appropriate leds and find the correct resistance. thanks.

Now are you asking if you had all 24 lighting up or you mean switching between those colors. Because if you want to have a switch to change between blue and purple for 12 leds youll need 10ohm resistor and to have them all lighting up 24 leds youll need 4.7ohm resistor. Your voltage source will be the 5v point.

oh i mean switching between those colors. thanks.

i have questions for you. first, i own a phat one and i understand that i will be needing a solid 5v point for lm386 and a 5v source for the solid leds. my question is where can i have another 5v source so that i can connect for the solid state led?

or can i do this:

5v from lm386 and 5v needed for the solid, connected in one 5v from the motherboard.

second question is ill be adding more leds in this mod so a total of 14 blue & 14 purple switching between these colors, can i still use the 10ohm resistor? or it will be change?

also what kind of wires you use in this mod?

This is for coy2. Well its simple just like i did on the slim that 5v on the phat is the same voltage your going to use to witch between sound reactive and non sound reactive it works the same way. The diagram that you have presented is indeed how you doing it. Only hard part is organizing hall that wire into a neatly fashion. Now for your second question no your going to need a 8.2ohm resistor because calculating 14 leds of blue and purple both forward voltages is in this range of 3.0-3.5 so i went with 3.0 the lower the longer the leds last without burning out. So using this formula R=(Vs – VL)/I then divide that by how many leds and from there go to the nearest standard resistance. To put into play R=(5-3)/20 this equals 100 then divide that by how many leds gives 7.14 then going to the nearest standard resistance 8.2ohm. Hope that sounds clear.

well on the slim the solid 5v point that your lm386 connects to is the one on the far left on the mobo. what about the 5v source in which you get your power for the solid. arent they on the same point because from what i understand there is only one 5v point besides the one on the powerboard.

Yes thats correct there only one 5v point at least that i know of. Well the one on powerboard(slim) witch gives off 4.9v that doesnt work i have tested it. So the one 5v point is your only option it works as long as you do right but everyone makes mistakes and can correct them from a bit of testing.
