Quick, Stupid Question.

Is it possible to use an LM386 chip to power LED's in a computer?

If you linked the input + and - to the sound card's input and output parts, linked the voltage to some supply point somewhere, and hooked the LED's to that?

I would think it would work, but I did some searching and haven't seen anyone do it.

that is because they sell sound reactive led's and cold cathodes so all you have to do is plug and watch the shiny lights dance to your music.

it can be done using a LM356 but its much more of a hassle than buying a $10.00 to $20.00 kit

I don't like Cold Cathodes as they're too big, and they get to hot. I'd rather stick with LED's, heh.

And I already have an LM386 and like... 500 LED's. xD

i think you need to check you specs my cathodes don't get that hot, the inverter gets kinda warm but nothing compared to my ram, GPU, or CPU.

you can buy the led kit for almost the same price and you don't have to worry about soldering on a sound card

you know what im not having any luck finding any right now, i was at micro center picking up some other things today and was holding a set of them in my hands, but i cant seem to find them on line
