Motherboard Swap Question
« on: September 29, 2009, 05:17:41 AM »
Can I swap a TA-081 motherboard for a TA-079 motherboard? I broke the backlight connector off on the TA-081 and I bought a TA-079 from a friend for five bucks so I figured I could just swap the motherboards.  Has anyone done this before?

i swapped a mobo the other day, i dont know about compatability between the modles as i swapped a ta-081 for another ta-081 but you definatley have to use the noobz mac address fixer after you have done it so that the wifi works.

As i siad i havent dont that but i think it will work, some mobos and wifi boards cant be mixed though because of their versions but i think that an 081 and 079 are ok to mix if you use the noobz mac address fixer.

I'm almost positive that all mobos are completely compatible with each other. Memory cards will work for sure and I'm pretty sure you won't need to run any programs. Just swap them and you should be good to go.

well if you dont run the mac adress fixer program then the mobo would definatley have a different mac as only one mac is associated to one psp and wifi board so you would have to run the noobz mac adress fixer or the wifi doesnt work, but eah if your fine with the wifi not working then carry on :P.

Not always i swapped one out before and the only that i had a issue making with it is the UMD reader thats about it.

That's because you didn't have the UMD reader ribbon cable in all the way when you replaced everything.

well if you dont run the mac adress fixer program then the mobo would definatley have a different mac as only one mac is associated to one psp and wifi board so you would have to run the noobz mac adress fixer or the wifi doesnt work, but eah if your fine with the wifi not working then carry on :P.

The MAC adress should do anything to mess up your Wi-Fi unless your router has to allow certain MAC adresses.

I think it will only work if you swap TA-079/TA-081 and TA-082/TA-086.

so like i said it depends on the type as you can mix and match certain ones and you cant wth others, and also like i said before everybody tried to assert the knowledge that they didnt have, if you use the mac address fixer then sometimes it solves issues like alomicareprise is having

@atomicareprise i suggestt you look into the NOOBZ MAC fixer
