Curious why you used a diode....on a diode, excuse me if there is some other reason because i havn't read your past posts

a diode is required on matrix controller boards to stop the led being dimly lit when it should be off.

cos u need a diode on the matrix install so the rol led isnt lit constantly...... due to the way the matrix pads work

Any Ideas what I'm doing wrong? I got it to work on the matrix, the only differences are; The power point, 2-diodes & 2-330ohm resistors? What am I missing lol  :sadno:

I'd like to update all 4 of my controllers to this one. Now that I've already drilled the holes I'm stuck.

ok;

where are you taking power from on the cg one?
and i cant see in your pictures do you have the PIC orientated correctly? (i do not mean to patronise, it happens even to the best of us sometimes)

On the cg im pulling power from one of the mic port points. The one noted in the topfire tutorial. The notch on the chip is facing away from the trigger. Or as I normally would say, down.

Yes each install was with a fresh one to factor that out of the equation. I have it working great on the Matrix board. On the CG everything works except RT

Ok what exactly is and isn't working about it?

and try programming another PIC and swapping out the other one, something may have gone wrong during programming or it may have been damaged during the install

Ok I'll do that but I don't think it got damaged. I barley heat it up and all my points I pre-tin. The RT just goes nuts. It wont work at all then when I press the tactile switch to turn the rapid fire on it, it just keeps shooting. Then when I turn it back off the RT wont stop shooting period. I tested it with the shell off and while it was stuck shooting, removed the pin 7 wire and all was good. The controller worked fine. As soon as I touched the wire back to the middle pin on the trigger points it went nuts again.

The newest Microsoft Elite controllers aren't different are they? Also whats weird is that I got it working perfect on a matrix board. I mean this isn't that hard of stuff, I'm not really new to modding just this hex. I really like it, I'm just disappointed I can't get it to
work on the newer CG style boards.

This is what I wrote on page 9

I can scroll through the modes, enter/exit edit mode for mode 8, but the RT is acting up. I don't have the chip on wrong or upside down and I'm using the correct parts ect.

For some reason when connecting pin 7 to the middle point for RT, it completely disables my ability to do anything with the RT..until I click on the the RF then it just go nuts and shoots rapid fire without pulling the trigger. I can then remove the wire from that point and my RT works fine like it normally would on a regular controller. I'm using an iron @ ~600*F and I know I didn't fry the point because everything is fine until I re-connect pin 7 to the point. I've tried about 1/2 dozen resistors to try and figure this out but I donut understand whats up.

I know the LT is working fine because I can aim just fine, then clicking the left tactile it jumps trying to rapid aim lol

I've done some testing with my basic multi meter and its showing a reading for pin 7 but nothing for pin 6. I'm guessing this is not correct since LT work and RT does not.

hmmm i'm running out of ideas

there is no difference with the elite controllers only the shell.

when i talk about damage i do not mean the trigger i mean the leg of the 12f683.

what do you mean you get a reading with your multimeter, like continuity, voltage or what?

Me too I'm stuck. It's voltage I think, I'm not too good with those things lol.

I feel like something is wired wrong but I've spent about 10 hours thus far trying to get this sorted out. After I did the matrix install it further stumped me because I have them wired the exact same. Besides adding the 2 diodes and resistors the only difference is I pulled power from the farthest point on the left side of the matrix board.  :sadno:

Gaaahhh I got it to work lol  :drunk:

I went and got another CG board controller (wall mart) and it worked. Something must of been up with that controller. Like they always say the third times a charm lol. Glad I didn't give up. Next project is finding out what my mistake was. I did the instal 4 times counting the matrix board, maybe i missed something?

Either way, I tip my hat to you guys! Thanks for all your input and help. Now after this is sorted out I want to try another hex. Any recommendations.

this is a long shot but i've hd similar issues with rf isntalls on the newer cg and cg2 pad types.... it was the pot it self not being fitted properly.... they work fine without rf but with the rf they would randomly fire.... try removing the pot and replacing it or just putting it back on, wiggle it about while the rf is going nuts and see if it stops.... (it may look like its on there properly but its not so the pot is actually conecting there for fring madly.... but only when u connect up the rf wire... cos the rf constanly sends the rf signal but it should only work whe nu connect the pot (pull the trigger) if ya know what i mean... its kinda hard to explain... but all i did to solve this issue was heat up all 3 pot pins .. push the pot on a firmly as i could and the re solder them....

yes, it works perfectly

I was trying this out tonight and mode 1 & 2 worked OK on Black Ops but i didn't have any luck with the burst modes. Is there another revision besides 2.0rev7 that i am not seeing that has burst for Black Ops?

Hey if you are installing this one thing you should really always do is use a PIC holder they are pretty cheap an save so much time

- they are a lot easier to solder on to
- you can update the code
- you don't wreck the pic

they don't fit where Topbuzz recommends but I put them under the Right rumble motor works great!

Rodent's link is perfectly good, what you are looking for is called an "8 pin DIP socket"

*cough cough* who recommended???? lol

and they do fit there you just have to rotate it 90 degrees but it is a squeeze the best place for a dip socket i find is under where my tutorial says to put the pic...

What I meant by that is the tut tell you to put it there  and the tut is in the Topfire post, I find it rather awkward fitting them in there and I personally prefer to have them under the right rumble motor, as in the other spot you are limited on space and then something is more likely to go wrong.
