PS3 Motherboard swap
« on: January 10, 2010, 07:46:04 AM »
My older 40 gig died. I think the mobo is screwed. I am think about swaping it out for a new one. The only think is that I am a little skeptical about the whole matching the blue ray drive thing. Any one out there with some feedback? I have looked on ebay for a mobo. The sellers include the matching card, but no seller will answer my question about the success rate of matching the mobo to a foreign blur ray drive.

I'm not 100% sure if you can swap, but if you can you need the drive card for sure. None have answered because you can't. Buy a mobo and drive card. Otherwise it's just junk.

As long as the drive card is for that mobo it should work, the drives are the same the only thing that is different is the drive card. So the success rate would be about 90% depending on if you know what you are doing.
