Am I Bipolar?
« on: March 24, 2010, 04:36:37 PM »
Need some help guys. Lately I have been noticing some strange things happening. I will often go into a depressive state for a few hours and shut myself off from everything around me. I don't know much on it but I have done a bit of reading up on it. And it seems as if I tick quite a few boxes. I have experienced both depressive and manic episodes multiple times. Am I overreacting, or should i try talking to someone about my concerns. I can't really talk to my parents, I'll just get laughed at. Any ideas from someone who knows this a bit better than me?

hey bipolar disorder is an issue quite close to me, i would suggest going and seeing your doctor without your parents to talk to him as ny law he cant talk to your parents without your permission and he should be able to give you the advice and support you need

i am not responsible for what i do or my advice

I agree with Robin, though with the way that HIPPA works if you are a minor and your parents are your legal guardians and they are on your HIPPA list then the doctor is able to talk to them about your condition without your express permission (since you already gave permission  by listing them on your HIPPA form... (My wife works in the medical insurance industry so I know way more about it than I want to... lol)

If the doctor speaks to my parents, I really don't mind. But I can't personally talk to them about it. If it's from someone who knows what they are talking about, they may take it more seriously.

definitely talk to someone about it,I had the same problems for many years,I found that a new chance at life helped me get rid of my demons, which wasin my case going to college with a clean slate, nobody knew me or my past, and they only got to know what I wanted them to!
