USB Dongle mod info - Wireless controller
« on: July 30, 2011, 05:16:20 PM »
Okay so im not new to modding, i live for it, but the project i have in mind is i think pretty simple.

I have seen pictures here and there of people adding a Flash drive dongle to the 360 mem card so that they could use a flash drive that way, but i want to go a step further and actaully add the female end into a 360 wireless controller to do the same thing and leave the top slot open. Has any one done this? What is the pinout of the card slot, and what pins would take what wire.

I don't quite understand what you are asking? something about 360 memory cards? and controllers?

so im guessing that on the controller port all i need to do is solder into the two ground skip the 3.3v and wire into the +/-

if thats the case the follow up question is, how do i map the appropriate points on the back of the controller so i dont fry it

but seeing these pinouts makes me wonder if any one has done a SATA mod for the HDD

I dont think there is any way to add a memory card to a controller, the controller is not designed to relay the information from a memory card. while it may be possible with a wired controller, by just hooking the usb lines together like it is connected to a hub, the wireless controller doesn't communicate with the console over usb,

you could do it with a wired one if you can fit a usb hub inside...

hyper,

Does a usb hub do more than just connected the USB lines? Could you just splice the USB lines together?

My thought was,
- Get a 2 port USB hub
- Remove the wire from the controller
- Rewire it to the USB in of the hub
- Rewire the USB points on the controller board to one of the ports on the hub
- Then wire the second port of the hub to a socket on the outside of the controller

Then you could use correctly formatted flash drives as memory cards and plug them straight into the controller.
