Sorry bud usb thumb drive through the usb port will not happen. Might be able to adapt a thumb drive to the ms pro duo slot...

try getting this
http://www.electronicmarket.com/wholesale/products/All-in-One-Mini-USB-2.0-MS-MS-Pro-MS-Duo-T-Flash-SDHC-SD-MMC-Card-Reader.html
take off the casing then desolder the usb to save space then either solder a female usb to it + wires if you need distance from the chip to the female usb. or you can solder a mini usb cable to it and then once you have the female usb or female mini usb soldered to the chip then solder the micro sd slot contacts to the micro sd card reader contacts on the psp and make sure that they are in the right order cus if you mix them up or get them backward you can damage or break it. then once thats done try connecting a male mini usb to female usb cable to the female usb you soldered onto the chip then plug in a memory stick and see if it will work.

with this chip it converts micro sd to usb and it should work in reverse if you connect it to the psp properly that way it will read the thumb drive as a
mini sd pro. but the mem stick and the thumb drive will have to be the same format. i will try this in a few weeks. cus if i can get my 2 tb harddrive to work on this....

sparky idt that will work because of the simple face that the usb part of it functions as a power supply as well idt the pro duo puts out 5v needed to power the board.... just sayin

lol look at this crap u can get like 5 bucks a day for doing  poop http://adf.ly/2Knsr

its not hard to feed the board power. just give it power  from the battery.

ok but what would you do with the power from the battery then? because the fuses on the board are only able to take so much or they will blow.

adding a flash thumb drive is possible but you would have to disassemble the flash drive and place it inside of the UMD drive. and wire it up to the MS access point, but i don't see the point because the psp will not read more then one card at a time.

and you may say "well then how does the PhotoFast CR 5100 work?" well the photofast combines the two memory cards into one. it uses a PIC and a an unknown code to trick the psp into thinking that it is only reading one card.

So if you really want to add a second memory card to your psp, you should use a CR 5100 (2 SD to 1 MSPro) or a CR 3200 (2 MicroSD to 1 MSPro). and it just so happens that i have one id be willing to sell. (PM me if you are interested)

actually that little chip i displayed is small enough to fit between the wireless card/card reader and the mother board then if your worried about fuses take out the umd and place batteries in there. and also wouldnt it still work if you took the mem stick out? but i guess you minus well do the external harddrive mod instead... but still it should be do able

Oh... yeah i seen that... it was a fake vid. the psp cannot run a HDD.

HDD = Slave
PSP = Slave
PSP+HDD= Will Not Work.

I thought you meant that Robin had made something like that. LOL.

Not really.  I havent seen it done either, so you still have your chance to do it first.  I would do the mod myself, and probably have it done in 2 weeks or so, but I have other mods I want to do instead.  There is only so much you can fit in a PSP, and the 1000, as far as I know, has the most space inside it to put stuff.

2 weeks huh? Ok. Well there is only 1 way to do this as far as I know. You need 2 adapters. I wrote a thread on it. When I find link I'll come back and edit. Many very experienced modders have attempted this and all have failed as far as I know.

Edit. .. In theory this should work.

If you think you can do it I will help anyway I can,  I am not a pestimist,  so I say please prove me wrong. I hope this does not come off rude, its just a friendly challenge.
