No voltage for R1 Button JDM-011

Hello guys, I am working on a remapping DS4 buttons proyect for an arcade stick. Basically I made some mistake triying to connect the 8Kohm resistor between points 17 and 18 of the buttons flex ribbon circuit board connector of the JDM-011 board, so now i have no voltage for the R1 button and it behaviour is like it is pressed all the time. Is there some fuse or component that could I check for repair it?

R1 is active Hi, so if it is acting like it is pressed then it's getting voltage from somewhere.

Desolder whatever you have done in there and see how it works.

Thanks for the advice, but I already did it and still no voltage...

The 3.2v that R1 uses powers most everything else in there as well, L1, L3, R3 the Sticks, so more than R1 has to have a problem if the 3.2v is missing. What else doesn't work?

Sorry, I think I misunderstood the voltage measurement points. I must have voltage oscillating between 0 and 3.2V, between 16(R1 active high)/15(R2 Common) and 3.2V fixed between 16(R1 active high)/17(R1 Common) and I get those voltage correctly if I use points 2(L1 active high) or 9(ground) as reference so then the cable that I soldered to point 16(R1 active high) could be not doing good contact. That will explain the R1 no voltage problem between points 15/16 and 16/17. But then the behaivour of the R1 button always pressed could be an additional problem. Besides everithing else is working correctly, including analogs, R3, L3, etc...    My biggest problem is then that I don´t find why is R1 always pressed and I remember that this problem started while I was doing 8Khom resistor location tests.

All voltage measurements need to be made with reference to ground, not between this and that points on the contacts. Use the #9 contact, or any other ground spot on the controller, for the common when taking measurements.

R1 will only activate if it gets voltage on the line, so either you have a short somewhere on that line to something, or another possible cause could be the Pull-Down Resistor for the R1 line has been knocked off, which can happen when the Right stick is removed.

I think I found the problem... I don't know when It messed up...

I seriously doubt it's causing your R1 issue.

Looks like it's a TC7710WBG for charging the battery. 

It seems to be the same chip from the -001 to the -020 version boards, so you shouldn't have any real problems getting a replacement one from a salvage board, or some online source, but it is a BGA-25 package, so not something everyone is really setup to rework.

This is one I just pulled from a -020 here to have a better look.



(Also have an -001 board and it's marked 7710 331A4 on that one)




There should also be no testing to see where the 8K Resistors need to go, they need to go between 3-4 then 17-18

You are the expert, thank you very much for the explanation.  I have no battery charging problems, so I must check again where the short circuit may be or what component might be broken.

So I removed all my soldering work to find the R1 short circuit problem, but now I found that accidently at some ponit i lost 2 components.

Can I replace them? or should I give up with this board?

Going by that pic, top circle should be a Resistor, 100k, 0402 size. That one you need. Bottom circle is a Capacitor and it will be fine without it.

Thanks a lot, I will install the new 100K resistor to check if pcb still working and R1 always active issue has gone.
