DS4 not full range with new Joystick
« on: September 24, 2021, 12:30:39 PM »
Hi, since 2019, I fix controller for my shop, but lately, I have encounter issue with Joystick replacement, ALPS or Polyshine, same issue.

New joystick don't have full range when soldered (I don't speak about offset, I know since a long time how to calibrate it by adding resistor).

Like new joystick, Go 95% left, 100% right. 100% up 80% down.
If I use another one, I can have different result, but always lack of fullrange.

I get this result with everything back in place (when out of sheel, they have full range on everyside).

Anybody have fix for that issue ?

Sandpaper.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

incrase diameter of ring could help, but I repair mostly Scuf controller, so customer won't like this option.
Thx for your reply

Would replacing the pot fix this issue?

I "fixed" mine by bending the plastic "spike" that engages to the potentiometer a little bit in the "down" direction. Then I lubricated the surface between the potentiometer and the metallic structure of the analog stick with the intention to reduce friction that could potentially bend the plastic to its original shape.

I know, I know, it's not a fix I should be "proud" of, but it did the trick for now.
