It depends which way they installed it, but typically the center is the button line and the outside will be ground. Solder a wire to the center and touch it to ground somewhere and see if the button activates.

The thru hole connections of that thing are mainly for mounting purposes, and are also just grounds.

My charging port came off and it seems the upper two narrow pins have damaged through holes, is there any where I can link those to?

OK, I ended up reading through all the pages of this post and saw rdc's advice of using an xacto knife to pop off the options button and solder ot it. I wasn't exactly sure what he meant by that. I was goofing around with an old ps4 controller's reset button since its the same and I took off the orange and silver circle. Here's what it looks like:

Is he talking about that circle in the middle or is he talking about taking off the whole plastic square surrounding it too?

I just want to clarify, the reason I wanted a scan was because I'm looking to solder a back button to the options button. On the bdm-030, you can see where the line goes and can solder to that point (I don't know the lingo sorry), but for the bdm-040, it goes under the sie chip so I can't see. I'll send a picture.

Anyone know where I can find a scan of the BDM-040 mobo? I see BDM-030, but the options button is different on the 040.

those Inputs are 'floating' and will do whatever they feel like doing, and can sometimes make other parts of the controller act up.

I can confirm...I learned about this by not cleaning the board properly of flux after replacing pots...Or when a pad lifts
