ok well i tested it with my guitar heres what i found out you could do this as a pre amp i have an internal mic so with the volume up i got feedback at first but you wont have this issue you will need to tap into the sound board like the internal mic and put a second headphone jack somewhere as an input also if your using audio mechanica i dont know if it will stopp when you have to big a reel for your mc i didnt run into this but i didnt play a whole song either if you got a different program then share the link cause this is a pretty good idea and i would like to look into it further...it would be cool if they made some sort of guitar tracks pro for the psp or something hahaha hope this helps if your still interested

right on,i have a fat too so i have guitar box it is a amp program but i dont remember where i got it from, has multiple fx and settings,so if i can find an old psp fat remote i can use it

I hope to solder up a microphone input socket on my PSP. If I get around to it, I will post some pictures

I am not sure of which is which, It came attached to a ffc.  Neither the mic the ffc or the pcb gave any indication as which was input and which was ground.  So I wired it in, wired in the A/V side and tested it with the UMD door off to determine which was the better.  The wrong connection will not pick up as clear or as loud as the correct connection.

i think my solder iron is too big :(

Just file your tip down, I also had a large-ish tip on my iron but I just got a metal file and made it into a nice precision point :)

Hello, yes I REALIZE bumping an old topic is CONSIDERED spam. But hear me out. This would be extremely stupid to make a new topic for just this.

To anyone looking to do this mod, IT DOES work with Audio Mechanica 8 AND SOCOM FTB2, I myself was unsure when I did this mod there was no clear answer. But if your like me and you don't really use any other features that require a MIC other then SOCOM. Put your fears to rest.
