I now this is an old thread and it is bad to bump it but i must

I need to know how u did it to make it for both to work with just a switch cuz i have the coolest idea that will save everyone money and space in there slim (probably)

okay here i go
wat if we take one of these:http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16489
and like the original sd mod take it apart and turn the micro sd slots into SD slots  :cool:
sound better than this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.17296 and cheaper

Now if u can plz let me know i would really apreciate it i want to buy the supplys for this but i don't if i can't do it right
I would do the Cr-3100 simply because it can hold 64gb instead of 32gb like the CR-5400

Ya but i want to try this and on the headlines for them on am they both say 32gb max

PhotoFast CR-3100 Dual-Slot SDHC SD to MS Pro Duo Adapter/Converter for PSP 2000 (32GB Max)

PhotoFast CR-5400 Dual-Slot SDHC MicroSD/TF to MS Pro Duo Adapter (32GB Max)

and i don't need anymore then 16gb anyways

thank u P3nnywise for the sig

Your trying to do this?:
Idea for use of SD cards on PhotoFast CR-5400 Dual Socket Micro SD!

I was going to wire my readers like this:

See the 2 contacts in the BLUE box?

That is where you wire the power to PSP's motherboard and the card reader.

Don't bump old topics but since u already did might as well help u

look at this link
http://pinouts.ru/Memory/sdcard_pinout.shtml
and this one
http://www.interfacebus.com/MicroSD_Card_Pinout.html

now wat u want to do is find out wat pin is #1 on ur ms to micro SD converter
once u know that connect the pins according

MicroSD-->SDHC
1-->9
2-->1
3-->2
4-->4
5-->5
6-->3+6
7-->7
8-->8

hope that helps

because you can't just hook up a sd slot to a ms pro duo slot without an adaptor.

exactly
wat i recommend u do is buy a cr-5400 of ebay or dx
wat the cr-5400 does is take the MS signals and turns them into MicroSD which u can turn into SDHC by wiring it up differently

Don't bump old topics but since u already did might as well help u

nope u have to use a microSD to MS adapter thats the only way but u could take the ms slot off and put ur new SDHC slot there

after you wire it up to microSD to MS adapter first.

So in other words there's just has to be a microSD to MS conversion chip so you can use the big SD cards.  I would just personally get a CR-3100 and be done with it, but that's just me.

Here's a diagram on how it would be, the pinouts of course are not correct (for illustration purpose).  U can see the MS to SD adapter is acting like a middle man or a bridge.

So if you wanted to remove your OEM MS slot and fit a SD slot:

1> Unsolder the MS slot
2> Solder wires from your mobo's MS pins to the MS to microsd adapter
3> Solder wires from the microsd adapter to your SD slot
4> Lay down your SD slot and secure it in place.
5> Cut case to fit new SD card slot
6> Shove a big SD card in there and pray it works

the prob wit the cr-3100 is u can't take the sd slot and place it in the original slots place and it removes alot of space in ur umd drive that u could use for a million different mods

on my current psp i am removing the ms slot and placing in a spring loaded sdhc slot (trust me this will make ur life so much easier) and because i am doing this i have space to place a speaker in my umd area a jewel some surprises and possibly (if i get money soon) a go cam

so in my opinion go wit the cr-5400 and if u want 2 sdhc slots just wire up the other microSD slot to a sd slot and place it in the umd area

I've been doing a bit of research on this mod for my phat.  On the phat its easier since you can get an extra WIFI/MS board and work on that.

Yeah just using Autocad for the drawings.

But now that I'm thinking about it, I dunno if its a good idea to do this mod since you will probably cap out at 16GB using the single SD card?  Cuz I don't think you can use a 32GB card with this setup.

I guess if you want more storage u can probably  get a PhotoFast CR-5400, crack it open and wire up 2 SDHC sockets and try and fit them inside.

I thought the photofast Cr-5400 had a 32gb limit on it, like 16+16=32 kind of limit
