Xbox 360 dvd drive

Hi,

I have an old Xbox 360 and a while back I had to change the laser, but now (trying to play BF3) it seems really slow and halfthe time can't read the disc...

I am wondering if it is a good Idea to change the laser again or something else is possible wrong.

try cleaning the laser. seems as if it is going out or dirty. for it not to read sometimes.

Yea good answer snowcolt. Not so much sure about the benq drives , but some of  the lite on drives need to  adjust the pot resistor. and sometimes that helps out.

you could try installing the game to your hard drive, after you put the disc in press Y on the game and select install game

i would check to make sure your connection is solid and the lens is clean before you replace it a bad connection could be causing it to have difficulty reading then as rodent stated you may need to adjust it above thee laser is 2 screws the one on the right is the one you want to adjust just use a small screwdriver and give it a quarter turn to the right( some people have had to adjust it further than this but usually a quarter turn does the trick

BEFORE YOU ADJUST THE POTS. Read or Google it. If you adjust it wrong you will burn the diode out. So you need to Google pot resistor adjustment. Also needs to be checked with a multi-meter. And check the ohms. You can't just go and adjust them! Could make things worst for you. Research first.

Thanks for the response, I will try adjusting the laser (it is a lite on) and clean the laser, any recommended products for cleaning?

And I have now installed both discs of BF3 which helps, but I am still going to fix this annoying problem.

EDIT: You should see some of the crazy fixes on Youtube, they vary from smashing it with a hammer, to putting a round of M16 in it

Usually when I clean the laser I use alcohol and a q-tip... seems to work the best.. dry with q-tip also
