New 360 owner - some questions about running unsigned code?
« on: February 02, 2013, 03:09:01 AM »
After modding controllers for a while, I finally took the plunge and bought an xbox 360 slim. I have been searching online, but not really found any clear information. What do I need to be able to run unsigned code such as emulators and backups on the 360 slim?

What dash board are you on? Dash 15574 or higher requires the tx dgx to obtain the CPU key. Regardless, you'll need a Nand reader like the Nand x or jr programmer. And also you'll need a cpld glitch board (matrix glitcher, coolrunner rev c ) there are plenty more options. I just woke up from 4 hours of sleep, can't really think.

New Coronas  you have to see what version you have , I have not done one yet but from everything i been reading there a pain, but i will get things updated  soon.

you will need to purchase a DGX and a J-runner programmer USB cable to read the Montior Com  that much i know of at right now  there are like 4 diferent Versions of the Corona , also  The 4GB Verison of the Corona Can not be DUAL NAND at this time.

DGX is used For  Retrieving the Dvd key on dashboards From 15574 and UP...  they have not come out with the one for Phat consoles yet but is in the process,

you can download the J-runner it is on V-286 at this time

we need a new up to date RGH tutorial.
your wish is my command

My Slim 250GB HD version most likely has Philips-LiteOn DG-16D4S if I am to believe this guide; http://www.xbox-scene.com/versions-xbox360-dvd-model.php

I am looking to find the the dashboard version, I updated the machine, might have been a bad idea.

At the moment, if I could find a way to make it not ask for the discs when the games are installed on the HD, I would be overjoyed.

Ok the only way to tell the dashboard version is to power it up and go to system,  console settings , then  go to System Info. this will give you the dashboard your on should look like this
System
[smg id=2921]
Console Settings
[smg id=2922]
System Info
[smg id=2924]

Then you can rgh it and then add games to the hdd with out using a disk using this link to read about how to rgh the tutorial i just made
https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,42585.msg318771/topicseen.html#new

If you can give me the MFR date I probably can tell you which Motherboard you have also being that after AUG 17, 2011 i believe it was is when the Corona motherobards were starting to be made and finishing off the trinity motherboards

Ok so it is a Corona mother board you are going to need a DGX to get the cpu key and you will need a few other things once you open the console as the diagrams show on the RGH Reset glitch hack  the types of motherboards since they make 4 different versions. to beable to do this hack.

Ok. I received it today, so I am not going to crack it up yet, I want to run it a while to make sure I have not got a "bad egg". :)

Is it possible to install mod like this and have it so you can disable it and use the console online?

(many questions, new to consoles in general).

you have to take the console apart , you could dual nand it if possible idk on the new corona's yet only some you can dual nand the 4gb you can not dual nand at this time.  then you could rgh one nand and still play on xbl with the orignal nand

That sounds good, really need to take it apart at some point to find out whats inside. Will give it a while to run to make sure everything is working and I dont break warranty for nothing.
The soldering I can do, it is small, and I have no problems with that. Been fiddling with such things for quite a while now. It just takes great care and patience, and good tools for the job. And your guide is showing most of what needs to be done. What would be a good place to get the mod parts I need?
DGX + Jungle Flasher? Anything more? Dual nand require an additional mod?

Check this topic to see which version Corona you have: https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,42450.msg317940.html#msg317940

Dual NAND requires another modchip, there are a few you can get, TX DemoN is good. You can only have a dual NAND on consoles with a 16MB NAND (the ones without the 4GB module).

Jungle flasher is used to flash your DVD drive, which isnt really needed if you RGH your console.

Thank you for the info. I do not think I have a 4GB module in mine. At least it was not listed as such when I bought it. But I will see when I crack it open.

If dual nand is a sure thing to be able to use the console online, then that is what I need to get. Just need a good way to switch between them I suppose.

Grab a tx demon and cr3 pro ultimate kit. The cr3 pro comes with the jr programmer and all qsb to make glitch the console easier. With the exception of the 4gb nand corona, it needs a separate qsb piece and no tx demon is compatible. We will know more once you open the console. Then we can get you a better idea of what's is to be needed.

Tx demon comes with 2 option to switch between nands. Either use the sync button or use the external switcher which will be supplied and installed in the back of the console.

I have been looking at the xK3Y which seems to be able to do exactly what I want, use images mounted on an external harddrive. Seems to work with all xbox versions as well, except it is likely that I need another mod chip in order to rad the cpu key from the drive in the particular model of slim machine I have.

Any thoughts and impressions on this device? Is it completely invisible to live (meaning, it only see it as a regular drive)?

Drive emulation its one way to go but only for game backup play. No emulator like you wanted. Also it is not completely invisible. Xbox live can still see it, although not many have been banned.

As I understood it, I will need a RGH modchip just to get the key on the drive I most likely I have, so I guess that would mean emulation as well. Because if I have to get that, I will have it permanently installed. And drive emulation would be a good and easy way for me to keep backups of my discs.

Just wish it was 100% stealth..

you can get the key off the dvd drive   no mod chip needed to get the dvd key. you can just hook it up to jungle flasher and follow the jungle flasher  tutorial to get the dvd key .

only thing RGHing does is mod it like a jtag and gives you the cpu and dvd key if the dvd was missing. and you need the cpu key to RGH the console. which will need a DGX to get the key off the Slim Xbox 360 on dashboards 15574 and higher.. and to rgh the console you would need to add a coolrunner or Matirx glitcher chip.

Jungle Flasher is use to get the dvd key from the dvd drive with some tools required

J-runner is used to Jtag or Rgh a console with certian tools needed to do this.

Ok, thank you for that explanation. Looks like I will just focus on running xbox software with drive emulation to not have to mess with the discs.

Unfortunately I had a slip accident when opening the console to find out exactly which drive I had, when taking away the side plastic covers, and this nicked the thinn plastic wire pcb to the eject touch button, so I have no way other than the software way to open and close it. Looking for spareparts or possible replacement. Will contact the company where I bought it tomorrow.

The manual ejection does not work either LOL. Only software works. I will send it in for service...
I could easily repair it or replace the part as you suggest, but with only a week into the warranty, I rather not do that. Better get it replaced. Maybe I will be lucky and get one with better drive for reading the keys ;)

Seriously?  It wouldn't Manually open? did you go thru the side of the case?

Yea i understand the point of sending it back if its under warranty.. but they might not replace it being that you tried to open the console.

good luck!  Hopefully all goes well.

Yes, I can only try sending it back for replacement. We will see. Worst case scenario I fix it myself when it comes back. And if I have lost the warranty then, I will open it up fully and prepare for modding.

Yes, seriously, the manual ejection does NOT work. Very strange.

Only software ejection works. I am no longer sure it was my poking around that caused the fault.

Btw, which stickers on the console is the warranty seals? the one with pictogram at the back with the text "xbox 360"?

I know there is a sticker inside, but that can not be all?

If this one is broken they will not replace it , if this is removed they can tell. also when you open it there is another one covering the mounting holes that holds the top case on it.  I need a better camera for close up , this looks nasty.

I find that hard to believe the manual open the dvd drive doesn't work , I work on these all the time. it open's from the side of the case not in the front of it.

Thanks for the info Rodz. That sticker looks a bit scruffed on mine, as if something abrasive has been against it. Dont know if that will affect their judgment or not. I have not broken it, it is whole otherwise.

As far as I know, on normal dvd drives there is a switch on the inside of the hole that you press. But I can not feel any switch at all inside that hole. Maybe that is why it wont work.
