Probably is somewhere, but not on here. Really not much going on there at all, since every button is just a set of contacts that close when the button is pressed. The only even slightly interesting thing about the FPCs are the built in Pull-Up Resistors and variable Resistor contacts for the L2/R2.

Hi all, did anyone had an issue with the controller that doesn't vibrate nor have any LED lights? I have this issue with a JDM-001.

Most of the time you can get pretty far at figuring out what something is based on how it's all connected in the circuit and the package it's in, it also doesn't hurt when most of the part number is on the top of it. ;)

Another question. Do you happen to know what components are responsible for the led bar of the JDM 001-011? I got a 001 that the led doesn't light up but all else works fine. It lights up yellowish green(?) when charging, but when it connects it turns off the led. I've searched and it appears to be a somewhat common issue, couldn't find a fix though. I've replaced the usb board and the ribbon with no luck.

The MCU turns the ground side of each LED on/off via an N channel FET and couple of Resistors. All of those components, the 3 FETs and 6 Resistors total, are grouped around the connector on both sides of the board.

It's a decoupling cap, the actual value is 100nF, but it could be anything from 1nF to 1uF or even missing and not really make any difference there.

Hi guys.
I have some broken DS4.
Please enlight me with value of this marked components.

jdm 001
it was fine until i accidentally broke the smd while replacing left analog. my hand slipped...




all buttons still works normal. Except R2 L2 completely off.
both analog sticks stays like that no matter what.


jdm 030




It got corrosion but still works.
The only problem is left motor vibration and battery cannot connect.
Caps marked red just fell off with pads when i tried clean with IPA. Yellow is corrotion. I don't know if they still good.
Battery and motor still ok. Tested on another DS4.

Sorry if my questions is not related to topic.

Are these images from OEM layouts? I noticed many USB charging boards with strange layouts and no components. Trying to figure out if these are not recommended or if they are fine without the parts like the fuse and cap.

Welcome.

All of these PCBs are official Sony controllers. I have about 0 interest in the knock off ones, as it's bad enough keeping up with every revision that Sony makes.

The fuse being on there is 50/50, but the rest I'd prefer be on there. The decoupling caps, common mode choke and surge protection. Technically you can get away without them, but you can also not wear your seat belt or lock your car everywhere you go too. ;)

Hello again guysAfter desperately trying to replace my dualshock 4 right analog stick with no proper tools (didn't have a hot air station so i worked with only a soldering iron) i did some damage to the analog stick pinholes and the soldering pads on the board but still managed to replace it and do the soldering.
Everything works fine except the R3 button which acts on its own when i spin the analog, and it's always staying put when i leave it untouched, you can see the R3 button inputs here:

I'm sure the analog stick itself is healthy so anyone having any idea how to resolve this? i don't have the right tools for this and kinda don't want to remove the stick again and causing more damage
I'm assuming some kind of short circuit might causing the problem but i don't know exactly where

Any help would be appreciated

Which version of board do you have? or get pics of your board around where you were working on it. I'd guess you probably knocked the 100k Pull-Down Resistor for R3 off there, as that will make R3 act all goofy, but I need to know what version board it is.

I checked it out and it's still there with no damage taken

This is the only obvious component which i broke during the soldering, could this be the problem?

It usually does when it backs to a normal state like after playing with it for a while, but most of the time when i turn the controller on or plug it in R3 button acts on its own at the start (like being pressed all the time) just like the video i sent, so strange!
